History of the School: An Overview

It is not without much fun fare and gaiety when a young man - the Barangay Captain Alvin S. Feliciano, and the Sangguniang Barangay, started the work at the street of Decena, Arkong Bato. This was the place where it all began.
It was March 5, 2006, when Valenzuela National High School – Arkong Bato Annex was instituted through Resolution No. 05 – 06.
At the start, Mr. Meliton P. Zurbano, pioneered the work as Officer – in – Charge of the VNHS – Arkong Bato Annex.
On June 2009, the leadership was transferred to Mrs. Myrna M. Agulto when Mr. Zurbano was designated to Mapulang Lupa National High School .
After waiting for more than three years, the vision has finally achieved. Honorable Congressman Rexlon T. Gatchalian laboriously worked the passing of House Bill No. 5293 – Arkong Bato National High School (Valenzuela) which was enacted to Republic Act 9669 – An Act Separating the Valenzuela National High School – Arkong Bato Annex in Barangay Arkong Bato, City of Valenzuela, Metro Manila from the Valenzuela National High School, Converting It Into An Independent National High School to be Known as Arkong Bato National High School and Appropriating Funds Therefor.
The annex became self- reliant as Arkong Bato National High School effectiveJuly 17, 2009.
Since the historical turn over ceremony last August 10, of the same year, drastic changes and concrete reforms happened.
The transition was fast. The school underwent various alterations such as the computer laboratory that practically keeps 50 computer units from the City Local Government, extended roofing, repainting of classrooms, extension of the faculty room, and better canteen place. Promotion of personnel was sequential as well.
Mrs. Agulto was promoted Principal II in Parada National High School leaving the school last November 4, 2011.
Thereafter, Arkong Bato National High School has Mr. Edwin L. Valera was given an assignment to lead the school, from November 4, 2011 to April 4, 2011.
At present, Arkong Bato National High School has Dr. Virginia O. Alacon to be the head of the school.
Looking back and seeing all these to what it has become today, Arkong Bato National High School stands as a safe, supportive, and strong learning environment which provides opportunities for each student to become a responsible and successful member of the community.
